PRESS RELEASE
A CAMI WITH ADDED CONFIDENCE
Ladies fashion brand, Cami Confidential is showing its support for The Genesis Appeal by donating 50p from each sale towards the charity.
Set up by couture designer, Yvonne Gillon, the Cami Confidential is a simple yet effective solution to help women regain their self-esteem after undergoing a mastectomy. The lightweight stretch lace top cami, which is available in two styles and 14 colours, puts an end to fashion compromises and has been designed to suit all occasions - whether it’s for a wedding, a night out, or just for everyday use - and works with any piece of clothing.
Yvonne explained: “I got the idea when I was designing a wedding outfit for a lady who had recently had a mastectomy and was feeling vulnerable. Her main worry was that if she leant forward, others would see her scars, or notice her prostheses. She searched the high street, but couldn’t find anything suitable; everything was either too low, too wide or too baggy.”
Yvonne rose to the challenge and designed the Cami Confidential which, because of its clever cut, hugs the chest and will not gape when bending forward. As such it provides a camouflaging effect and gives a good shape over a bra, renewing confidence.
Yvonne continued: “I have seen first hand how having breast cancer surgery can impact on a person’s confidence. The Cami Confidential was created to allow women to maintain their femininity, elegance and confidence. It may sound basic that a simple cami can make such a difference, but the feedback we have received from customers has been amazing. The Cami Confidential really has taken the stress out of shopping for many women and given them more wardrobe options.”
The long cami is priced at £40 and the short cami at £35.

BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS INVITED
TO MODEL IN AID OF CHARITY
Women who have survived breast cancer are invited to be models for the day to showcase Northwest designer, Yvonne Gillon’s Collection in a Strawberries & Champagne Fashion Show in aid of Breast Cancer Care to be held at The Hallmark (formerly the Belfry) Hotel, Handforth, on Wednesday 30 September at 7.00pm. The event also sees the launch of Cami Confidential, a post mastectomy camisole collection, which has already received rave reviews and provides a discrete service following surgery for breast cancer.
Yvonne explained why she is appealing for breast cancer survivors to come forward and contact her,
“I want to raise breast awareness but also provide encouragement to women and demonstrate that you can maintain your femininity, elegance and confidence despite having a mastectomy. Those who have survived breast cancer are the perfect models to promote this and I hope will inspire thousands of others who have breast cancer in Britain.”
As a designer, Yvonne has come into contact with many women suffering from breast cancer,
“One particular lady, Lyn, was the inspiration for Cami Confidential,” said Yvonne. “I was designing an outfit for her daughter’s wedding when she told me of her dilemma – she had just had a mastectomy and was feeling quite vulnerable. She had been invited to a celebration dinner and her main worry was that when she leant forward, others would see her scar. Wherever she shopped, everything was either too low, too wide or too baggy so from this I designed Cami Confidential, a lightweight stretch lace, double fabric top, which fits over a bra. It is different to other tops in that it hugs the chest and won’t fall away when you bend forward. It is also close cut to the armhole and softly elasticated for comfort which I’ve been told is a great advantage as most bras or vests are too low under the arm. In fact, we have just launched our website www.camiconfidential.com which provides information about our exciting new product.”
Lyn has been wowed by the design,
“Cami Confidential is amazing. It is very feminine with a scalloped neckline which doesn’t move during wear and gives me the confidence which I had previously lost. It’s taken all the stress out of shopping and not only is it a great addition to any wardrobe, in fact, it’s a wardrobe essential for all women!”
The fashion show will include designs from a range of Yvonne’s Collections, many of which have been inspired by clients visiting her studio simply because they cannot find what they want on the high street,
“As with many of my designs, my inspiration was born out of the fact that nowadays women are young in their outlook and want to be fashionable but come to me because they simply cannot find what they want on the high street,” said Yvonne. “Furthermore, they are definitely recognising the fact that couture is made to last because it is designed specifically to suit their figure and personality, hence the cost per wear makes it such a wise investment.”
Breast cancer survivors who would like the opportunity to model at the Fashion Show should forward their name and contact details with a recent photograph and short paragraph detailing why they would like to be involved to Yvonne Gillon, 20 Hollins Lane, Marple, Cheshire SK6 8AW. Closing date is Friday 28th August. Tickets for the Fashion Show cost £15.00 to include a glass of champagne and strawberry scones & cream and are available from Yvonne Gillon telephone: 0161 427 1881.
